Ömer Salim grew up among the mountains of Hakkari. He describes a childhood shaped by limited means and a difficult environment. At eighteen, a friend introduced him to boxing: it gave him direction and taught him patience.
Based in Tunceli, he wants first to improve life for his family, then help people in need and orphans. Faith is an important part of that ambition; he hopes one day to turn it into a charitable organisation.

Hakkari, first steps and patience
Ömer speaks fondly of Hakkari’s mountains, water and green landscapes. His childhood there was also marked by limited resources and tension in his surroundings. He remembers trying to imitate Cüneyt Arkın films, his restless energy and the difficulty of finding his place at school.
Discovering boxing at eighteen did not immediately bring all the opportunities he hoped for. Family responsibilities and limited resources restricted the time he could devote to progress. Yet he says he never considered giving up. His first professional contract in 2026 opened a new stage: learning to manage competition emotions and turn his training qualities into ring performances.
