Shane Schaak: building a journey his family can be proud of

Behind ‘The Shark’ is a father, a husband and a son. In the account shared with Tunal Group this week, Shane Schaak explains what gives his career meaning: making his loved ones proud and building something that will stay with them.

Born in Berlin, the German light heavyweight discovered boxing as a child, alongside his brother. Sport fed their competitive spirit. Later, the fights he watched on television and YouTube strengthened his ambition to turn professional. He took that step in 2021, in a small venue with a crowd limited by pandemic restrictions.

Before signing with Tunal Group, Shane says he had to handle almost everything himself: finding sponsors, organising his fights and paying for sparring partners and training camps, while also supporting his family. That less visible side of a boxing career demanded just as much consistency as his training.

He also speaks about moments of doubt. To keep going, he makes room for rest, finds some peace and remembers why he boxes. Above all, he wants to show his son that a dream is worth pursuing, even when the journey becomes difficult.

In the ring, Shane describes himself as a counterpuncher who needs to adapt. His approach to the future is straightforward: keep improving, focus on the next fight and then earn an opportunity to compete for a title.
